Introduction
The next generation of Galaxy A models are here, and there’s a midranger for everyone! Today we meet the Galaxy A36, the most balanced of Samsung’s new midrangers.
There was a time when Galaxy A numbers were meant to differentiate screen sizes – the higher the number, the bigger the slab. Remember the Galaxy A73 or Galaxy A90, which were once the biggest A phones? Samsung has finally settled on a universal display size, and the A16, A26, A36, and A56 all get 6.7-inch AMOLED screens.
You might ask, what else is new in the Galaxy A36 besides its “superb intelligence”? Well, apart from its slightly larger 6.7-inch display and updated software, you also get 45W fast wired charging and a different hardware platform with a slight bump in GPU performance.
Samsung Galaxy A36 Camera
The three cameras at the back are carried over from the Galaxy A35 – 50MP OIS primary, 8MP ultrawide, and 5MP macro. There’s a 12MP front camera, but that might seem less than the A35’s 13MP, but it’s actually a better unit, so it’s a camera upgrade if you’re counting.
Samsung Galaxy A36 Battery
The Galaxy A36 has the same battery capacity as the A35 – 5000mAh, but we’re glad Samsung has bumped up the maximum charging power to 45W.
Finally, the Galaxy A36 boots Android 15 with One UI 7 out of the box, and is expected to see six major Android versions in the coming years.

The Galaxy A36 comes in a thin paper box, which contains the phone, a 3A-rated USB-C cable, and a SIM ejection pin.
Samsung Galaxy A36 review
If you want to use 45W fast charging, you can opt for Samsung’s own 45W power adapter or any compatible USB-PD charger. Note that you will need a 5A-rated USB cable to access 45W charging power, unlike the Galaxy S25 series that can do it with a 3A cable.
